NEC & TCAGP announces the schedule of the following short courses for year 2010
GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM FOR LAND SURVEYORS (July 20-22, 2010). Description: A practical course on the application of Global Positioning System (GPS) for land surveyors. The course will enable the participant understand the basic theories and principles of satellite-based positioning and its application to surveying. The participant will be familiarize with the different GPS receiver units: handheld, mapping grade, survey grade and geodetic grade and trained to design GPS control network, conduct actual GPS field observation, process data and perform network adjustment. The intended audiences are land surveyors who have minimal or no background in the conduct of GPS surveys.
ONLINE GIS AND WEB MAPPING (Sept. 22-24, 2010) Description: An introductory course on GIS and web mapping for LGUs, NGOs and government. This course introduces the concept of data sharing and visualization of GIS outputs such maps and features in the internet and other local network connections and provides actual, hands-on implementation of web mapping tools.The intended audiences are the LGUs, government agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders and individuals with interest in creating web applications of their spatial data outputs. Prospective participants must have at least working knowledge
of personal computers (Windows 2000/XP), Internet Connection, and basic GIS course
SOIL AND LAND CAPABILITY MAPPING AND ASSESSMENT (September 13-17, 2010). Description: A practical course on soil and land capability assessment methods, techniques and applications. Topics include basic theories and principles of soil mapping and land capability assessment and use of use remote sensing and airphoto technologies to conduct soil surveys, land capability assessment and land evaluation;. By the end of the course, participants should be able to conduct land capability assessment and prepare reports. The intended participants are land resource assessment specialists who have minimal or no background in soil and land capability assessment and evaluation
MODERN MAPPING TECHNOLOGIES FOR ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT (October 12-15, 2010) Description: A practical course on the use of Remote Sensing (RS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) in environment and natural resource mapping and management. To gain straightforward practical experience on the use of remotely-sensed images and GPS field data for resource mapping and management applications. The intended participants are technical personnel of LGUs, government agencies, NGOs and stakeholders with environment and natural resource mapping and management functions. Prospective participants must have at least working knowledge on personal computers (Windows 2000/XP).
